Variables
Belted Kingfisher
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons with annual
precipitation more than 359 mm and less than 68% big sagebrush
shrubland and less than 7 land cover types. Secondarily, occurred in
hexagons with annual precipitation 303-359 mm and some agricultural
lands. Where annual precipitation less than 303 mm, occurrence was
mainly in hexagons with more than 142 miles of stream per sq. mi.,
and wetlands and wet shrubland also is important. The logistic
regression analysis showed positive or negative association with
number of land cover types, stream density, ponderosa pine forest, the
extent of public land, and-to a lesser degree-April precipitation
(hex. max.).
